Powered and free conveyors are routinely used in harsh
environments, such as paint ovens, above dip tanks, and
throughout the pre-treatment process of paint products.
Any drips from the chain can be prevented from landing on
the product by using special shrouding and carrier design
when necessary.
The track is divided by an unbreakable chain. Its one-of-
a-kind design, which includes side guide rollers, results
in extremely low friction and extremely long life. Into
the track is inserted a special piece of track with a
hinged opening that can be opened and closed, through
which the chain is threaded.
In the early stages of evaluating project feasibility, we
can provide you with more detailed information on the
advantages of these types of motor assembly lines &
conveyors, as well as some budgetary guidance on the
cost/benefit of different types of conveyor systems, if
necessary.
In each application, specific considerations such as part
weight, conveyor length, and overall system complexity
must be taken into account. Due to the fact that they
have two tracks and the trolleys are more complex, Power
and Free overhead Integrated stove conveyors are
generally more expensive than hand push or monorail
(indexing) style overhead motor assembly lines &
conveyors.
For the system, the starting point is a unidirectional
enclosed track. Available in a variety of lengths and
materials, including stainless steel, the Unibilt track
system is the foundation for a motorized conveyor system.
Yokes are added to the ends of each section to make it
easier to attach the sections to the steel support
structures that are mounted to the floor or roof. Unibilt
track is either welded or bolted together to form a
single unit. Horizontal curves allow the track to turn
left and right, whereas vertical curves allow the track
to go up and down in both directions.
Power and Free Integrated stove conveyors, on the other
hand, are typically the most affordable when compared to
other overhead style conveyors that provide the same
functionality. When compared to Friction drive systems,
Power and Free powder coating booths have a significantly
lower number of motors and control components. With
respect to Electrified Monorail Systems (EMS), Power and
Free conveyor will
usually be 20-30% less expensive in terms of total
installed cost compared to EMS.
It is possible to provide protection with something as
simple as safety nets, but more commonly, as shown in
some of the photographs on this page, wire mesh 'basket'
structures are used. It is up to the customer whether
this guarding is strong enough to allow maintenance
personnel to walk up into the structure or whether it is
simpler and lighter. Regulations governing occupational
safety and health typically require some form of
protection for the entire pathway underneath loaded areas
of belt">Conveyor belt, at the very least.
Because of installation considerations, it is difficult
to provide "per linear foot" estimates for Power and Free
conveyors because the support structure can be either
floor supported (on columns mounted to the floor) or
supported from above. When a conveyor path crosses over
production areas, it is common practice to provide
falling parts protection for the employees who work below
the conveyor path.
