Phil Mickelsons second round at the PGA Championship got
off to the worse possible start after a wild opening tee
shot. Houston

expectant fans, Mickelson sent the ball careering so far
to the left that it sailed over the perimeter fence,
bounced on the adjacent road and into a neighbouring
garden.It was an inauspicious start and the 46-year-olds
second attempt was only marginally better. Making the
adjustment following his wayward first effort, Mickelson
managed to hook the ball some 120 yards right of his
original tee shot and into the crowd. He followed that up
by hitting his next shot well over the green and narrowly
avoided finding another garden before chipping the ball
back to the edge of the green and then getting up and
down in two for a slightly surreal triple bogey. An
unlucky fan was hit by Phil Mickelsons wayward tee shot -
much to the delight of the Baltusrol crowd! Although
Mickelson recovered well, there was still more drama to
come before the end of his round as his tee shot at the
10th again went left and, on this occasion, hit a
fan.Rather than be concerned at having been struck by the
ball though, the reaction of the fan and those in close
