When you jump into Black Ops 7 Zombies these days,
especially if you have been playing for years, it is hard
not to feel like something important has gone missing,
and that is true even if you mess around with things like

all the time. The old rush used to come from scraping
through bad rounds with no ammo, circling a messy horde,
and knowing one tiny mistake would end a two hour run.
Now a lot of that edge has faded. The mode still looks

survival match.
The Ashwood Setup
The thing that really exposes the problem is that Ashwood

walk your character into this narrow corridor, stand in

damage stack are so forgiving that it might as well be

line, heads stacked like a training dummy, and the bolts
create this constant wall of damage. You are not dodging,
you are barely aiming, and there is no real decision
making after the first few minutes of setup.
AFK Rounds And Fake Difficulty
Once that spot is locked in, the whole idea of "high
round" stops meaning what it used to. People sit there
more or less AFK, pushing past Round 400 while half
watching a show on a second screen. It is so simple that
you could tape your mouse button down or run a tiny macro
and get pretty much the same result. Instead of tense
resets and clutch revives, you just watch the round
number crawl towards 999 like it is some idle clicker
game with zombies as background decoration. There is
almost no real risk of going down unless you tab out at
the wrong moment, so hitting a crazy round feels more
like leaving your PC on overnight than beating a tough
mode.
Why Players Still Do It
Thing is, you can not really blame the people using it.
The game shoves XP bars, camo challenges, and calling
cards in your face, and anyone chasing leaderboards is
going to pick the most efficient route. If the fastest
way to earn stuff is to stand in a hallway while the game
plays itself, lots of players will just shrug and do it.
You see it in most lobbies now: folks talk more about
which exploit is "best per hour" than how they clutched a
nasty round. That change in attitude does not come from
nowhere, it comes from a system that rewards passive
farming way more than actual skill or creativity.
What This Does To The Mode
After a while, you start to feel that the problem is
bigger than one busted corridor or one overpowered
weapon. When the strongest strategy is literally removing
the player from the moment to moment action, the whole
mode loses its identity. Zombies used to be about
learning paths, recovering from mistakes, arguing with
your mates over which perk to grab first. Now the "meta"
turns that into a checklist you finish in ten minutes
before parking your character in a corner. The mode
becomes background noise, something you leave running
while you make dinner, and that is a sad direction for a
series that built its name on tense survival. If nothing

sliding into this weird space where the real flex is not
how good you are, but how long you can leave your rig on
