On a very warm night at the Ricoh which ended up cold, a
bit like the skyblues performance to be honest. With the
CET stand mostly closed you could just tell it was going
to be a dire game and atmosphere, which it was. The first
chance of the game fell to Cody McDonald who didnt stop
his pursuit of winning the ball off defender Aaron
Webster who then was able to slip past him and fire a
tight angle shot at Burton keeper Ro s Atkins which was
comfortably saved. As the

Burton found there attacking boots with Billy Kee taking
a shot and Joe Murphy having to flick it round the post,
with Cleaveland Taylor who caused all sorts of trouble

showed how popular he really was when he was booed by a
few fans every touch he had. The best attack of the half
came from the home side with Gary McSheffery floating
ball in came to Carl Baker who headed it goalwards only
for keeper Ro s Atkins to make a flying one handed save
which was then cleared.On to the second half and from the
start Burton substituted the goalkeeper who was quality
for them so I presume he was injured. On came goalkeeper
Dean Lyne s who made some terrific saves in

to become villain at the end. Coventry also made a sub
with Cody McDonald coming off for Stephen

half started pretty much like the same, dull. That was

shot at the keeper who had to get his hands right in
which way the ball would move. The best chance came to
Burton when Billy Kee caught on to a Cleveland Taylor cro
s which struck the post which was later cleared. The home
side thought back with new loanee David McGoldrick who
was very impre sive with his exciting flick pa ses nearly
scored when his long range shot was parried away by the
impre sive substitute keeper. With the game ticking away
the next big chance came to a very selfish Gary
McSheffery who fired over the bar as he picked up a loose
ball, there were plenty of players in the box but he
chose the wrong option which angered the home crowd even
more. The crowd settled for a penalty shootout when
Stephen Elliot was played through and his shot was tipped
over by the machine in goal Dean Lyne

no extra time due to JPT cup rules it went straight to a
penalty shootout. They surely made up for a dire game of

Coventry with Joe Murphy scoring the winner so eveyone
having to take a penalty each, didnt realise we had some
decent penalty takers, only mi s for City was my
favourite player Richard Wood and for the away side
goalkeeper Dean Lyne s who harshly became the villian and
captain Marcus Holne s all being saved easy by there
respective keepers. So the Skyblues
