The main thing to realize is two separate events are going on. There's the scourge invasion and the questline, which requires players to Icecrown and sends players on a goose hunt for Nathanos. Then there is the zombie infestation, which adds just a small PvP aspect for everything. It is not surprising a few folks would want to take part in the first event but not the moment, as not everyone likes PvP or using their course and race skills taken away and wow classic gold replaced by additional abilities. Blizzard could make the infestation only active for a few of those weeks of the invasion, but that's no fun for anybody who misses that week and would want to participate. Honestly, the best solution likely would be to leverage the Warmode system. An infestation is essentially a PvP event , so having the capability to opt-in with Warmode makes sense. Even doing something where for the majority of the invasion, players had to opt in the infestation by choosing Warmode, but at the last week, before Shadowlands dropped, the infestation could affect everyone, would probably be the optimal solution.
The game - occupies in my mental geography is important enough that I find it unsettling. The idea that a brand new player can tackle their journey through the match without ever setting foot on the wide pampas of the Barrens, or trudging through the Swamp of Sorrows, or even really exploring the game's original continents at all - spare the capital cities of Stormwind and Orgrimmar - gives me an uncomfortable feeling, such as using a phantom limb or a false memory.
Obviously, it's exceptionally well done. As an mechanical introduction into the game, it's flawless. As an introduction to the Warcraft's world? I am disappointed that Exile's Reach plays out identically for Alliance and Horde players, never mind players of all different races. The first starter experiences, individual to each race, do a great deal to buy classic gold wow produce the extreme sense of belonging and cultural identity that Warcraft - a huge fantasy archetypes so cartoonish they get away with being, honestly, a bit crass - has no business fostering, but can. (You can decide on the original starter experiences instead, if it is not your first character.)
